E-Mail Queries

When you use our
e-mail submission service, the e-mail goes out under your own name and
e-mail address, with a strong subject line to attract interest.  We'll provide you with some suggestions on what to say, too.   For example, a nonfiction book might be described  something like this:

To:  June Williams mailto:jwilliams@newyorkbooks.com
From: Dan Jones  mailto:danjones@yahoo.com
Subject: A New Book Featuring a Personal and Scientific Breakthrough in Gene Therapy

All you need do is provide us with the content of the e-mail.  You can start with a short intro such as this, and then further describe your project and yourself.

I would like to submit "It's All in the Genes", a self-help guide to success based on a revolutionary new therapy on changing your genes for better health and success. It describes my personal story in coming back from a near death experience and benefiting from this breakthrough in science

You can write your own e-mail letter, though we recommend you follow our guidelines for writing a short, effective letter. Or use one of our tested e-mail templates and fill in details about your project.  We've already used them in mailings with positive responses from many editors.  Once we receive your payment for our query service, we'll send you the address to access these templates on our Web site.  Or if you still need help, use our writer query service.

Once your query is ready, we’ll e-mail your queries to the selected agents, editors, and/or syndicates seeking your type of book, article, column, or screenplay.  We'll also send you a report which lists all of the companies and the names of the contacts at these companies who have been sent your e-query.
