WOMAN OF MURDERED DAUGHTER USES E-MAIL QUERY TO FIND A PUBLISHER

How E-Mail Queries Are Opening Doors to New Writers

in Publishing and the Film Industry

When Kate Weaver’s daughter was murdered by her ex-husband, she determined to write a book in her memory -- She Died for Her Kids – because her daughter died when she returned for one last try to protect them.  She even got a Congressman to write a bill in her daughter’s name protecting the children victimized by deadly spouses.  But after a year, her agent wasn’t able to attract any interest to her story, she sent out an e-mail query, got four dozen replies in a day, and a dozen publishers are now considering her story.  Another woman who wrote My Name Isn’t Maria about an escape from a Communist country followed by abuse by her step-brother posting as her husband similarly used an e-mail query after her agent couldn’t do anything and now has seven publishers interested in publishing her book.

These authors illustrate the power of a new way to contact editors, publishers, and agents through the use of e-mail queries.  Now writers with a good story can pitch it themselves and get responses within hours, though typically most responses occur in 1 or 2 days.  It’s a new way for writers with a compelling story to get through what was once an impenetrable transom opened almost exclusively to agents.  Plus now the company is helping screenplay writers get through to producers, production companies and agents, too, through its sister site at www.screenplaywritersconnection.com.

The company was launched a few weeks ago and now has over a dozen clients who have made connections.  She Died for Her Kids And some have posted their results on the site.  Just go to “Kudos” to see their comments, along with others from industry pros. For details, visit the company’s main site at www.publishersandagents.net and screenplay writers's site at www.screenplaywritersconnection.com
